Nichols, NY Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Plant Superintendent, the Manufacturing Manager is responsible for key aspects of the production operation and production efficiencies including; coordinating and managing Supervisor's activities with regards to safety, daily reporting, shift downtime, spoilage, and general production KPIs.
Duties And
Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Manager's responsibilities would include but are not limited to, the following:
Applies knowledge of various processes and production methodsMonitoring of department safety objectivesWorks with employees on identifying, discussing solutions of performances and production related concernsWorks with Production Supervisors in coaching and helping understand daily prioritiesMonitor and manage daily reports including overtime scheduling and costs, spoilage, downtime, SQCPM, line enhancementsPerforms and facilitates on the job training and/or coaching of all employees and SupervisorsCompletes and/or administers documentation such as area or machine specific reports and keeps key personnel up to date on trends, issues, and plant performancePerforms other job-related duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements10 plus years working experience in a manufacturing settingMust be available to work various shifts if needed including nights and weekendsAssociates or related trade degreePreferred RequirementsBachelor's degreePackaging industry experienceKnowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing CompetenciesProved ability to prioritize effectively and excellent time management skillsAbility to change shifts and plant departments to cover absences or provide additional supportUnderstanding of machinery and equipment, but with the ability to know when to assume the responsibility and when to delegateStrong commitment to quality and safetySkills is MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointProven problem-solving skills and experience using analytical approaches to problemsProven management experienceProven oral and written communication skillsEffective interpersonal and presentation skillsDemonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects to completionAbility to work effectively both as an individual and in a team environment using collaborative methodsMust be committed to ongoing personal training and development Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus Working ConditionsGenerally works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures The noise level is frequently loud Possible Equivalent Military TitlesLogistician; Store Manager; Supply and Warehousing Manager; Transportation Manager; Transportation Maintenance Manager Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
